Himley Division was formed in 1980 and is made up of four Districts, namely Brierley Hill, Dawley Brook, Kingswinford and Wordsley.
The Division took its name from the local Himley Hall, a large mansion house which was originally built on land belonging to the Earl of Dudley. It boasts 180 acres of grounds that were designed by Capability Brown. The Hall was regularly visited by members of the Royal Family and in 1934 the Duke and Duchess of Kent honeymooned there. The Prince of Wales who became Edward VIII spent his last weekend there before his abdication.
We are quite a large Division having over 40 units covering all Sections, with more than 750 members. Our units meet in a wide variety of places including Schools, Church Halls, Community Centres and a Scout Hut. We were thrilled in 2010 when we re-opened our Trefoil Guild which is going from strength to strength with eleven members already signed up. All Districts regularly have units going on camps and pack holidays and the Annual Division Camp is always a fantastic weekend.
Our area is famous for the Broadfield House Glass Museum and the Red House Cone of Stuart Crystal; if you look in Visitors Centre you will find the Wordsley District Glass Time Capsule. We are extremely close to Merry Hill which is one of the largest shopping centres in Europe.
