
The Queens Guide Award is for the 16 – 25yr age group.

The Award allows you to choose and develop your own skills in Guiding and in the Community.
There are 5 Sections.
Outdoor Challenge.
The County Outdoor Adviser looks after this section.
You must gain the first 6 modules of either.
The Senior Section Permit
The Camp & Holiday scheme.
Then it is your choice of either an Exploration or an Expedition.
Explorer Belt may also be used for the Outdoor Challenge.
Personal Skill.
60 hours over 12 months.
Start a new skill or take an existing skill to a new level.
This can be anything you choose.
Community Action.
This is in 2 parts (Research & Practical).
Over a 12-month period choose a topic, which has to be part research and part practical.
Residential.
Participate in a residential run by the Guide Association or another agency lasting no less than 3 days & 2 nights where the majority of people are unknown to you.
Additional information.
To start you will need a Record Book and Registration Form S/QG
You will need a Mentor. This can either be someone from within Guiding or someone who will guide you through the Award and keep in constant touch for the whole 3 years.
You will need to contact the County Queens Guide Award Co-ordinator.
Assessors for clauses or elements may need to be decided beforehand.
Projects at School, College or Workplace may not be used but if you wish to develop the projects further they may count towards the Award.
Duke of Edinburgh Award, Look Wider or Leadership qualifications may be used provided they are discussed at the initial meeting.
Remember – No project may be counted for more than one Clause.
A 12-month break can be taken out from the Award, but must be discussed at the initial meeting.

If possible, arrange an initial meeting with your Mentor & Queens Guide Award Co-ordinator to chat about your plans and ideas. This can prevent any problems or misunderstandings about the Award later on.
